The Process

This is a general overview of how a wardrobe consultation works. I hope it answers any questions you may have.
Of course, all of this can be tweaked some to fit each individual person. For instance, if there is a particular boutique that is a favorite, I would certainly try to find something there. Or if we are short on time, my shopping day alone and the try-on day could possibly be done the same day. Shopping for someone without a consultation is pretty tricky and I don’t recommend it. Some people like getting it all done at once and we can sometimes accommodate that. The majority of clients like the break in between the consult and shopping. Of course, previous clients have the good fortune of having the consultation already done, we just address that season or event.
I take my job and your money seriously, especially in this economic season. My degree in Fashion Merchandising comes into play in considering what route we take for your shopping event. Do we need to try a store that carries plus sizes or should I look at shoe stores with comfort brands? I try and look at sale dates and be aware of existing coupons. If I can get you a “deal” (it’s going on sale tomorrow, can we have that price today?) with a retailer I will but I get no commission from any store. I will also look at consignment stores if my client likes that approach. The converse of that is, if money is not an option, what fun we will have! It is easier than ever to find luxury items in Nashville. Jaimie, Coco, Kate Spade, Tory Burch etc. are retailers that some clients really love and I so enjoy shopping there with them!
I hope this information helps clear up any questions anyone may have. I work hard to provide an experience that favors each client, is conscious of how their money is spent, and in the end is enjoyable and makes my client look their best. If you or someone you know can use a self-esteem boost, this is it. My clients walk away feeling great about themselves. It’s a joy to be a part of that experience.
If you can use any of these services, I’d like to help. Thanks for reading….

First Consultation
When a client contacts me it usually involves 2 meetings. The first is a
consultation consisting of a brief questionnaire about shopping habits,
sizes, likes/dislikes, and needs/goals. Also, at that time we can do a
closet edit. This involves literally going through a client’s closet piece by piece and
evaluating whether something fits correctly, is outdated, too worn,
etc. We usually end up with a good give away pile and more room in the
closet. Most clients enjoy a second opinion and a fresh look at their
wardrobe. We end this meeting with a list of wants and needs for me to
look for, a budget, and a day for me and the client to shop together.
The goal is to “complete” a wardrobe in which it is easy to find your “go
to” outfits.

Store Selection/Item Pulls
After a date is decided upon, I will go the day before to 3+ stores that I determine will best accommodate the needs discussed and pull items and put them on hold. This day will usually take me about 2-3 hours.

Trying on Items
The next day, the client and I have our second meeting. This is trying on the items I’ve put on hold. When we meet, the clothes are ready and waiting for you in the dressing room. There will be many pieces but you will only leave with what looks best and pieces that won’t be an “orphan”, meaning, a piece that goes with nothing! We look at fit, quality, construction, and fiber content. The goal of course is to come away with pieces you love for the right reasons. All of these things need to be weighed against the price. I hate buying a “name” just for the sake of a name. It needs to be worthy of my money:) And remember the old adage, “less is more”.
